Unstoppable Conversations

Current State

Unstoppable Conversations is doing in-depth interviews with a number of market managers and vendors in order to gain understanding of the farmer’s market industry.  Findings will be used to build the course to suit our needs.

Intended Outcome and Results

The intention of this engagement is to elevate leadership and communications of Market Managers and vendors resulting in significantly greater effectiveness and higher retention rates. The session will have participants see their self-limiting default thinking inside their work and even sector-wide. Participants will leave with these abilities: Gain the capacity to bring leadership to any situation, even and especially those with “difficult people” and opposing views or opinions. Discover how to deflate volatile situations and empower others. Learn how to authentically listen such that the speaker feels truly understood and ‘gotten’. Get the skills for a distinct model of communication that leaves them free to say what needs to be said and able to hear opposing views without defense.

In this two-day workshop managers and vendors will provide tools to be effective in conflict, difficult conversations and stressful situations.

  • They will see the self-imposed limitations from unexamined beliefs, hidden assumptions and truths within the Farmers’ Market sector.
  • Participants will then reverse-engineer the Default Future that is predictably unfolding.

Sections covered in this session:

  • Already Always Listening
    • Participants discover that we rarely-almost never hear what’s actually been said.
    • Participants see their own invisible ‘filters’ and how they get in the way of actually hearing people, shaping and colouring all they hear.
    • Participants complete this with a powerful alternative to this ordinary way of communicating.
    • Participants will loosen their self-imposed limits and fixed ways of being.
  • Vicious Circle
    • Participants uncover how we keep repetitive, unproductive conversations with “difficult people” in place.
    • They discover how to deflate challenging situations and deepen understanding toward the other person.
    • Participants discover that their way of making sense of events is distorted at best. Breakdowns in relationships and communications are made shockingly obvious.
    • A powerful new relationship to situations is provided that revolutionizes interactions.
  • Difficult Conversations / Authentic Listening
    • Participants will start to master being highly effective in difficult conversations.
    • Participants will discover that mostly when people say something with a different point of view, the listener just waits them out so they can express their point of view.

We aren’t designed to really listen to each other. When people are authentically listened to and feel really ‘gotten’, they’re naturally open to hearing whatever comes next. They are able to move on because the listener really gets them, even without agreeing.
